Application/Candidate/Citizenship Requirements:

1. Doctoral degree in food science, engineering, technology, or a related field; or a master's degree and five years postgraduate professional experience plus:
   • IFT membership;
   • United States citizenship; and
   • Federal employees are not eligible
   
   In addition, a superior candidate will demonstrate:
   • Exceptional achievement in food science, engineering, technology or a related field;
   • Ability to interact effectively with non-scientists and individuals with differing opinions;
   • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to explain scientific concepts intelligibly to non-scientists;
   • Flexibility in undertaking a variety of work; and
   • Familiarity with current food policy issues.
     
2. Compose a personal statement of no more than 1,000 words in length describing the following:
   • Your qualifications keeping in mind the fellowship criteria;
   • Your food and/or agriculture policy experience and/or interests; and
   • Your reason for seeking the fellowship, including how it relates to your career aspirations.
       
3. Prepare a two-page resume listing educational, professional, and other accomplishments.
