The original AAAS Congressional Science and Engineering
Fellows Program began on Capitol Hill in 1973. In
the ensuing years, the AAAS Science & Technology
Policy Fellowships grew to encompass more than a dozen
federal agencies in additional to congressional placements.
Altogether, more than 1,700 scientists and engineers
have spent a year or more as Fellows in Washington,
DC, helping connect good science to government decision-making.
