Fellows on the Move
Tanuja Rastogi, 2005-07 AAAS Fellow at the U.S. Department
of State in the Office of Agriculture, Biotechnology,
and Textile Trade Affairs, recently accepted a two-year
appointment from the United Nations to serve as Special
Policy Advisor to the Executive Director of the World
Food Programme in Rome. WFP is the UNs frontline
agency in the fight against global hunger and the largest
humanitarian food-aid relief agency in the world.
She will be joining the State Departments Under
Secretary for Economic, Energy and Agricultural Affairs,
Josette
Sheeran, who will be serving as Executive Director.
According to Dr. Rastogi, "The AAAS diplomacy fellowship
has provided the international and economic policy perspective
and skills that I need to make this transition."
She will begin her new position in April 2007.
