On June 24th, President Barack Obama nominated Kerri-Ann Jones, 1985-86 Diplomacy Fellow, to be the Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs at the Department of State. For more information, click here.
Adela Ramos, 2004-05 ASM Congressional Fellow, accepted a new position with USDA as a Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for Food Safety.
Holmes Hummel, 2007-08 AAAS Congressional Fellow, has been named the Senior Policy Advisor for the Department of Energy’s Office of Policy & International Affairs.

On May 13th, President Barack Obama appointed Commissioner Gregory Jaczko, 1999-00 AIP Congressional Fellow, as Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. For more information, click here.
On May 11th, David O. Washington, 2001-02 APA Congressional Fellow, was named Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement (OPE). He will lead the OPE’s "public-private partnerships" efforts. For more information, click here.

Kendra Chittenden, 2002-03 Congressional Fellow, accepted a new position with USAID in the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta.
On April 3, 2009 the National Institutes of Health announced that Maria Freire, 1984-86 BS/ASP Congressional Fellow, will serve as a member of the Advisory Committee to the Director (ACD). Since 1966, the ACD has advised the NIH Director on policy and planning issues important to the NIH mission of conducting and supporting biomedical and behavioral research, research training, and translating research results for the public. Kit Batten, 2006-07 Congressional Fellow, is now the Science Advisor at the Department of the Interior in the Office of the Deputy Secretary of the Interior.
Tegan Blaine, 2006-07 AIP Fellow at the State Department, has been appointed Climate Change Advisor for the Africa Bureau at the U.S. Agency for International Development.

February 2009
Karen Wayland, legislative director for the Natural Resources Defense Council, adjunct professor at Georgetown University, and 2001-02 AGU Congressional Fellow, has been named a climate and energy policy adviser for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

November 2008
John Pascarella, 2005-2006 NSF Science and Engineering Fellow, accepted the position of Associate Dean of Faculty and Research Programs in the Allen E. Paulson College of Science and Technology at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. John is also Professor of Biology and continues to teach and do research in plant ecology in the southeastern U.S. and Puerto Rico.

June 2008
Christopher Loftis, 2004-05 APA Congressional Fellow, accepted is now the Director of State Policy for the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare. The National Council is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) association representing 1,300 organizations providing treatment and rehabilitation to help people recover from mental illnesses and addiction disorders.
